Even envisioning a humble Nativity scene fills me with
wonder. Understandably, many Nativity scenes depict the
infant Jesus lying in a manger. And yet, wouldn't it be more
natural to show Him cradled in Mary's arms?
To me, Jesus in the manger whispers an invitation: this child
is not Mary's or Joseph's alone to cherish. He is our gift too.
And so He waits in the manger, ever available, inviting us to
embrace Him – inviting us to hold Him close so our heart can
beat in tune with His.
