Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? asked the Magi long ago.
The Magi sought the infant Jesus so they could worship him, while
ruthless King Herod sought him too – not to worship him, but to
crush him.
For King Herod, Jesus remained just a rumour. Though Herod
sent soldiers to search for him, Herod never found Jesus.
Yet those who sought to worship the infant Jesus did find him – the
Magi and the shepherds who had searched for him, and Simeon who
had long been waiting for him. Each at last saw him with their own eyes, rejoicing
over him.
That's my hope for you and your family too this Christmas – that you will make time to
seek the Lord and worship him, and that your encounter with him will bring you deep joy.
